Exclusive: WhatsApp Sues India Government

As you all might already be knowing that from today onwards some extremely well-established companies, rather I should say, their apps were going to be banned in India.

These included WhatsApp, Twitter, Instagram, etc.

The apps were going to be banned because they were not agreeing to the new IT rules that the Indian Government published.

These apps were basically not agreeing to the fact that their content should be monitored.

As a result of all this, WhatsApp has filed a legal complaint in Delhi against the Indian Government seeking to block regulations coming into force on Wednesday.

As we know that the Indian Government questioned WhatsApp on their new privacy laws, they told that the messages are end to end encrypted and cannot be read by any third person.

Also not denying the fact, the chats with a business account will surely be monitored by WhatsApp.

Reuters, which is one of the world's biggest media houses, disclosed this information first, told that the WhatsApp officials and their spokesperson has denied commenting on this, as the news is very sensitive and India has a user base of about 400 million users, so disclosing this so soon will be an idiotic decision.

The lawsuit escalates a growing struggle between Indian Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi's government BJP and some tech giants including Facebook, Google's parent company Alphabet and Twitter in one of their key global growth markets.

the tension between these increased when Indian police inspected the Indian head office, earlier this week.

The government has also asked the tech companies to remove not only what it has described as misinformation on the COVID-19 pandemic in India, but also some criticism of the government's response to the crisis, which is claiming thousands of lives daily.

But the response of these tech giants to the new Indian IT rules resulted in a legal case against the Government.
